Counting Down...

Two-days and counting to the start of the first Alaska Snow Safety Conference - 2011

We currently have ~60 people registered from all around the state. There is room for more & the registration online will be open until Nov 3. You are also welcome to register on site Friday morning.

Invite your friends and colleagues to this important and exciting conference.


This Alaska Snow Safety Conference website has the most up to date information on the conference activities and will be your best source of information throughout the conference for last minute updates.


Welcome - Check-In

Conference check-in and final registration will be open Friday morning at 7:30-8:30am in the lobby of Grant Hall Theatre - First floor of Grant Hall at APU.


Directions to APU & AAS:

Conference activities take place at Grant Hall & Carr Gottstein buildings at APU. Grant Hall is the first building on the north side of University Drive. Carr Gottstein is the neighboring building.

Free parking is located on the south side of the road across from Grant Hall and on the east side of Carr Gottstein. Follow the signs along University Drive & on the building doors.

We invited you to bring a poster (No larger than 3' X 3') to share news, photos and what your operation does with avalanche mitigation, forecasting, education, safety awareness programs, public outreach, etc. This is your opportunity to showcase your organization or company for other snow safety professionals and the general public! Audience will vote for their favorite & top place will take home a BCA Beacon, Shovel and Probe plus gifts from Patagonia, Black Diamond, Backcountry Babes, and AIARE. The posters will be on display on the third floor of Grant Hall Friday and Saturday. If you are bringing in a poster, you can drop it off at Registration on Friday 7:30-8:30am.


Calendar of events

Please bring in information on your scheduled events and courses to the conference. We would like to create a master calendar of all the snow events statewide.


Season Kick Off Party - Friday 6-9pm

Friday night’s season kick off party is at Alaska Avalanche School 6-9pm.

Theme is Retro Ski

AAS Office -  1025 Orca St.

(This is an industrial building located in the western end of Merrill Field)

There will be refreshments & fun company
